Certificate Research

After several discussions and research we have decided that our film trailer will have the rating of 15. Most of the films in our genre are the same genre as films such as Blood diamond, Die hard 4.0, 300, i am legend and many more. This certificate contains many elements that may be seen in our film trailer for example:
  • The work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour.
  • Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised.
  • Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) can be allowed provided the detail of such is low so that it can not create too much of an impression of the viewer. Abuse of weapons which are easily obtained will not be tolerated.
  • Frequent use of strong language can be permitted, although very strong language needs to be restricted and would have to be seen as reasonable in the context. Frequent usage of very strong language would be seldom allowed.
  • As long as the film is appropriate for 15 year olds, no certain themes are prohibited.
  • Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable.
These are the main reasons why we have decided our film will be a 15 certificate most of these elements will be featured in our trailer.

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Analysis

The trailer starts with the camera rising up the buildings followed by the text 'Every Hero Has A Journey' and 'Every Journey Has An End'. Seeing these quotes presents a number of questions towards the audience such as, is batman going to die?, is this the end of the batman series? and these questions generally build tension throughout leaving the audience currious to find out the answers to them.

Research and planning grade

There is minimal research into similar products and basic research into a potential target audience.
There is minimal work on storyboarding, scripting, drafting and layout.
There is basic research into location, costumes and props and minimal research into actors.
There is basic use of ICT and a good level of care in the presentation of the research and planning.

8/20 = E

Targets:
There is not nearly enough here.
Storyboarding, scripting etc needs to be completed as a matter of urgency.
Trailer analysis must be done, looking specifically at which elements you want to use and why they are efective.
Photos of actors and an explanation as to why they are appropriate for your chosen genre.
